Planting Seeds –> Walking by The Spirit Through Meditation

I am working through three Bible studies right now, one with Good Morning Girls on the Book of 1 John, my discipleship group study and my Marriage Mentoring  (not because I can…but, because I REALLY need them!).  I will be sharing some of the verses I am memorizing from each….  and this week, I will focus on work from my discipleship:  Joshua 1:8 and Galations 5:16

I have shared the first verse, Joshua 1:8 before….I discussed how the words:  ’shall not depart from your mouth’ meant….they should be forever entering and leaving our minds, hearts and souls.  We should be speaking the truth of God’s love at all time.
This past week, as I sat at my desk, I listened to John Piper speak on John 1 (part of my Good Morning Girls Bible Study) and he so eloquently reminded me that if I don’t memorize God’s words…he can’t speak to me.
So, during those moments when I’m on my knees…saying GOD WHERE ARE YOU…he is there.
The problem is not him…the problem is me.
The problem is that I have not buried the seed in my heart that he wants me to know….and I have to keep pushing through and pulling the words and burying them in my heart….and sitting at his feet….submitting to his will….and burying his words into my heart
By planting those seeds… I.hear.his.sweet.soft.voice.
By planting those seeds, I can walk by the spirit and not.gratify.the.desires.of.the.flesh.
Those desires that seek to get.what.i.want.and.what.i.think.i.deserve…….
until I sit with His Words, His Word, His Son….and I memorize HIM….the Word that became flesh…..
As a parent, it is my responsibility to not only learn the Words, but.to.teach.them.to.my.children….
and learn the depths of his love that provide a peace beyond any human comprehension.
will you join me?

Joshua 1:8 8This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

Thanks….I changed it several times….trying to get through to the glory side of what I want to share…the beauty of the grace and mercy….not with a head down, but raising it and reflecting his light….one day!

You’re so right! HE doesn’t go anywhere. We’re the ones who aren’t where we’re supposed to be. I love that verse from Joshua 1:8, although I am far from meditating day AND night. I’m a work in progress!

By the way, I use Twist-ups crayons for my Bible highlighters too! :)

I love the book of Galatians. The verse 5:16 is one that I need to be reminded of daily. So thankful for such a forgiving Savior.

    Rebecca,

Your thought about how we need to be meditating on the Word to really get to know God is so true. Reminds me again that if I want to be effective in teaching God’s Word and His truths to my children, I have to read the Word and know those truths myself!

Hello! Amen to all you said above!! I came over through the link up you posted at Good Morning Girls. The Lord has blessed me and my husband with 6 kiddos, one girl in the middle of 5 boys, ranging in ages 13-2. I am not a regular blogger…trying…but I am greatly blessed by blogs like yours. From your site I went to Apologia; great stuff! I listened to one of the audio messages (Rachael Carmen) and my heart smiled to hear someone else with a heart like mine. Thanks for linking your blog! Praying you have a great day!!!! ~Deborah

Deborah, Thank you for visiting….I love knowing that others are encouraged through my posts….that is my goal…to encourage others through my enlightenment…and even my failures (which are many!). OH, so glad you went over to Apologia and Rachael is such a REAL person…I love her books…she wrote one called: How to have a H.E.A.R.T for your Kids…that just blew me away…it’s just real and like sitting with her over a cup of tea/coffee. Right now, I’m sitting here looking at her other book: SoudBites from Heaven….and drooling to dive into it! Are you attending one of their live retreats? Oh, I highly recommend it and will be attending the one in April. Oh, I can’t tell you how happy I am that you dropped by! You have truly blessed me this morning!

So true! Wonderful post :-) Sorry I missed the meme this week. Still trying to juggle my weeks into place! I believe God has allowed me to glimpse a bit of a solution, I pray I can get back into full swing sharing and memorizing that Word! Bless you and your seed in heart planting!
