“The Birds, The Birds, Mommy, Look at all of the Birds”….the sweet voice of my youngest…sounding like a song to this Mommy’s ears….as we were out for a walk… a ritual we have started that brings joy to our day.
The air was crisp, we were witnessing new birds we had never noticed….their sweet songs filled the air as they took flight over our heads. He counted and counted…and I was thankful for that experience with math and nature, all in one.
Running along the sidewalk, his eyes full of sunlight, his cheeks pink…racing ahead of his brother and sister…who now…walk a little more slowly, and gaze in wonder at their little brother. They are a few years older than him…each with their own personality…his, his personality has the most freedom, the laughter abounds his face….and you see it…. You can’t help but smile…and I pray in that moment…these words that I read…just this morning:
“For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, togehter with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.” (Ephesians 3: 14-18)
I pray them deep as the sun touches my face, the cool breeze hits my lungs…and I thank God for this moment…for the many that I have soaked in and ask forgiveness for the ones I missed…or have failed to take notice of…. All of these moments I have with their hearts in our home…to share the beauty of his creation, his love…..

Beautiful post! I often pray and ask forgiveness for not paying attention, not being in the moment. I miss so much when I fail to enjoy the present.
I love those verses. That phrase in there “he may strengthen you”? Goes right along with what my post is about. I love how He does that—and we never discuss our posts! Amazing!
