Christmas is just around the corner. It seems to arrive in the stores earlier every year. This year, I am working and planning ahead. I want to have the the tree up and our home decorated by the weekend after Thanksgiving
Grow Family Relationships
Why? Well, last year, my children were sick (and I mean sick) from December 16h through January 17th. Yes, I know the dates by heart and can give you every detail if you want to hear all about it.
But, I don’t think you do. Honestly,I really don’t want to re-live it.
This year, I want to bake, laugh, giggle and create. I want to do everything we did not get to do last year. I don’t want to do all of these things seeking the perfect family scene. I want to do them because these are the little things that help grow joy and fellowship within a family.
Teach The Truth About Christmas
Last year, we began the season with our annual advent story and we added Truth In the Tinsel. WE were having fun reading both and we were growing our knowledge about the truth of Christ.
What I was instilling in my children (and want to continue with) is helping them focus on the truth of the season. Not the presents, gifts, or parties.but, the babe-born in a manger. That wonderful babe, who grew into a man who saved us from our sins!
Truth In The Tinsel
Amanda, from ohAmanda and author of Truth in the Tinsel created this simple and fun way to help your littles (and your big kids, too) truly learn and enjoy the season through reading the Bible and hands on activities.
Each day you:
- Read a Bible verse
- Make an ornament
- Discuss the ornament and how it relates to the Bible verse
- And other fun activities that will help your entire family grow (ie – on Day 5 you create a Mary ornament. After you read the Bible, create the ornament and discuss the Mary ornament, you act out the verse applicable to day five using Mary and the ornament you created the day before!)
I was blessed to meet Amanda, the cute and spunky – not to mention all over sweet Mommy. twice last year. Once for lunch and another time at Dawn’s for a fun little get together. Through both of those meetings, I was blessed to see the sincerity and love she poured into Truth In The Tinsel.
I am excited about this Holiday Season. Our family has grown a lot this year. The way we celebrate Christmas has truly changed over the past few years. This book, has been helpful in our transformation!
I hope you will purchase the book now ($7.99), and begin a transformation in your home. One that grows your family’s joy and fellowship, while focusing on the gifts that can perish, rust and moths can destroy – into one that celebrates the gift that will last throughout eternity!
Are you ready to celebrate the truth with your children?
