Dream Big
That’s what we are doing here today. We are dreaming big and sharing a day that is more than just the last day of the year.
Resolutions and Parties
For most it’s a day of looking back over the previous year and planning for the new year. Many make a list of resolutions, others pray and some just look forward to a night of parties.
In our home, it’s a chance to look back over a life-time for our daughter.
I can’t believe it’s been a decade since I walked the mall with my Mom the day before she was born. It seems like yesterday, but so much has changed since then.
Evaluating Life
Today, while many write those lists, I’ll bake a cake and we’ll have some fun in our home. Tonight, we’ll gather together and play her favorite board game- Life
and then we’ll ring in the new year with some fun and excitement outside.
During all of this, I am blessed to have a chance to sit back and pray that God will reveal the ways I need to improve as a mother. Not just for my daughter but for my sons and for the children they will have.
I have never been one to create a list of resolutions. To me, they are short-lived and not focused on an eternal perspective. I’m not saying people shouldn’t write a New Year’s Resolution, but I think maybe….we should consider creating a life list- once focused on God.
My Goals as a Mother
One thing I have decided as a mother- my biggest goal is that my children will love God and know HIS word before they leave our home. I pray that HE overcomes my own sinful ways and helps them to see He crea all things and they can glorify him through learning about His plan and how he created math, language, science, history – all of it – he created.
And I pray that my children grab hold of their inheritance in his kingdom. I pray they truly grab on to the knowledge that their Heavenly Father is the King of Kings and through that – they learn to not limit themselves based on worldly standards, but they learn to cherish their place in his kingdom and……..

As always, friend, your words touch my heart. They are so filled with the Lord’s Spirit. He truly is speaking through you. How beautiful to have goals that are focused on Him and how we can raise our children to know and love Him always.
I can’t wait to look through your “top 10″ posts. Many of them I have read earlier in the year and enjoyed, but I will look through them again. The meanings of freedom and liberty are so relevant and important for us and our children to know and appreciate, as we struggle to keep those precious rights when so many want to take them away.
I am so grateful for you and your friendship– your kind words, your love and support. your prayers. You have been a blessing in 2012 and I pray that not only will our friendship grow, but that God blesses your 2013 with nothing but love, health and happiness! Happy New Year, friend!
Lisa, you have been such a good friend to me this year. Your posts and the way you love your children so much have been a true inspiration to me this year. Thank you for always being here to encourage me – even an encourager needs to be encouraged.
Great post Rebecca! Happy new year!
