Dive

Dive into the arms of the one wholoves you

It doesn’t take long to fall off a cliff.  Any cliff.  But, to Dive – that’s different!

For those of us with hearts that wander, looking for that thing that will fill the emptiness inside, it’s easy to become like sheep and dive off of a cliff that could lead to disaster.

Friends enter our lives quickly, at times.  Some come for a season that is beneficial to them. Others come for other reasons.  Those reasons are easy to miss at times.  Through those relationships, where the path of the friendship is hard to determine, we feel God tugging at our heart, we feel pain and growth.

As we dive into any relationship, the older we get, we stop standing at the edge of the cliff, raising our arms and preparing to dive.  Instead, we dip our toes in, we test the waters, we slowly submerge into the unknown.  The trials of life, the pains caused by any relationship will cause a heart to do that.

To stop, test the water and miss the thrill of the dive.

One day, though all of us are faced with a cliff that does not allow us to test the waters.  It’s all or nothing.  It’s the kind of dive that once it’s taken, truly taken it rocks your soul at it’s deepest core.  It’s the dive that changes how you see everything in this world.

It’s the dive into the heart of Christ.

He woos us and loves on us.  But, he requires all of us.  He wants to be first, he’s jealous and loving.  He’s good.  And he is to be feared.

Once we take that dive, we truly change.

We stop chasing those things that lead us off of cliffs.  We chase HIM.  He’s the one worth diving for.  His love, his life. You lose yours in the fall.  The pangs of diving run deep as you shed the layers and layers of sin that have seeped deep into the soul fall off piece by piece.

As the pieces fall in the midst of the dive, in the midst of the beauty of the pain and delight you find freedom.  It’s a freedom few find, but all seek….

So, Dive!
